The Internet of Things (IoT) is the network of Internet-connected physical devices and everyday objects, which provide smart features, monitoring capabilities, remote control, geolocation, etc. to the user. Typical IoT devices include smart TVs, Google Home, Amazon Echo, etc. An example of a less typical IoT device is the digital ear tag of cows, allowing farmers to locate animals.
IoT devices raise serious security and privacy issues, because many of them can be compromised and can be used to facilitate mass surveillance without user awareness and/or consent.
