Teaching, Unit Coordination, and Course Coordination

Dr. Sikos is a lecturer in computing and security at the School of Science, Edith Cowan University, currently teaching Cybersecurity Incident Detection and Response (CSI3351) and Computer Forensics (CSG2305), and coordinating these units on campus, online, and offshore. He also coordinates the accelerated online postgraduate CYB6015 Cybersecurity Incident Response unit.
He is also the course coordinator of Bachelor of Computer Science (U65).

Lecturing

Research

Dr. Sikos is a researcher at the ECU Security Research Institute and at the Cybersecurity Cooperative Research Centre. Currently, he is the lead of the major research project Sharing Cybersecurity Data for Australian Research (SCReeD), a theme lead of a research project proposing changes to the Government of Western Australia on incorporating new cybersecurity components in school curricula, and a research team member of the Augmenting Cyber Defence Capability (ACDC) project. In his career, he had research grants totaling >$3M.

Editorial Activities

Dr. Sikos is a volume editor of Springer’s Advanced Information & Knowledge Processing and Intelligent Systems Reference Library book series, and a reviewer of journals including, but not limited to, Computers & Security, Forensic Science International: Reports, Crime Science, IEEE Access, Wireless Networks, Expert Systems with Applications, Social Network Analysis and Mining, and the Journal of Information and Telecommunication.

Conference Organization

Dr. Sikos is a session chair, program committee member, session organizer, and workshop organizer at a variety of international conferences in AI and data science, such as at the International Conference on Knowledge-Based and Intelligent Information and Engineering Systems and the International Conference on Intelligent Decision Technologies.

Community Engagement

Dr. Sikos has media appearances with ABC News, publishes articles in professional magazines, and is a regular presenter at ECU’s CyberSeries. In 2022, he served as the Student Activities Coordinator of the IEEE WA Section.
